Product design is a response to changing needs and to improve quality of life by designing creative, innovative and sustainable products. For VCE Product Design and Technology, students assume the role of a designer-maker. In adopting this role, they develop and apply knowledge of factors that influence design and address the design factors relevant to their design situation. 

In the study of Product Design and Technology students can choose to specialise in specific materials such as wood, metal, plastic and resin.
